масс-старт гонка с общего старта
Вид соревнований по биатлону. Масс-старт — один из новейших видов биатлонных гонок. Длина дистанции 15 км для мужчин и 12,5 км для женщин со стрельбой на четырех огневых рубежах. 30 лучших спортсменов стартуют одновременно с общего старта. Спортсмены занимают места на огневых рубежах в соответствии с порядком прихода на стрельбище (при первой стрельбе — в соответствии со стартовым номером). На первых двух огневых рубежах стрельба осуществляется из положения лежа, на последующих двух — стоя.

biathlon mass start
Event in biathlon. The mass start competition is one of the newest biathlon formats. It covers a distance of 15 km for men and 12.5 km for women, with four shooting stages, the first two prone and the second two standing. In each race, 30 highest-ranked athletes start together simultaneously and take their place at the first shooting stage depending on their starting number. Athletes line up at the remaining shooting stages depending on the order in which they arrived at the firing line.
